Bridgetown Market Recap from 31 Jul 2012

Bridgetown Market Recap from 31.07.12

What a perfect day for a market! Many vendors, many shoppers, great weather and a great buzz. Even some of the potential new politicians started to talk things up. A great community setting.

Our entertainment this week was Lola Senelly, guitarist and folk singer and it was great listening to her. A nice repertoire of popular folk tunes.

Jubilee ParkDid you get a chance to consider where you were? Jubilee Park, a mix of upland and tidal marsh, was dedicated to Her Majesty for her Silver Jubilee in 1977. It was a joint project of the town, the Bridgetown Lions’ Club, Britex Ltd. and the Province of Nova Scotia, as well as the generosity of former residents. Interestingly, the Park was available because a former owner of the house across the street, formerly Captain Crosskill’s (1815), imposed a ban on building on the area to preserve his view, allegedly to allow him to see when the steamers were coming into port. The park will soon be hosting the Britespan Bridgetown Triathlon (August 5th) and a visit by Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant-Governor during Ciderfest (September 15).

So, each Tuesday, from 11am to 3pm, pick up some great food and join the lunch crowd picnicking on the banks of the Annapolis River or on one of the several picnic tables around the park. See below for our full vendor directory listing and also how you can become a vendor. And if you know of a vendor you would like to see there, give them a nudge and invite them to contact us please!
